Some of the finest aquatic plants will grow and bloom merely floating on the water surface, deriving nourishment from the air and water.  In nature, they drift to shallow water where the roots soon anchor, and growth is very rapid.  Floating aquatics are always at home in any pool.<\/p>\n\n

Floating Leaf Flower<\/strong><\/a> – A interesting floating plant that produces a beautiful red-green coloration with stunning reddish dangling roots.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Duckweed<\/strong><\/a> – Duckweed is a small free-floating plant that resembles clovers and has short roots. Duckweed helps reduce algae growth by blocking sunlight, which can prevent harmful algae blooms. It is also an important food source for fish.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Salvinia<\/strong><\/a> – Dainty leaves of soft green covered with a velvety nap of tiny hairs. The growth forms an attractive chain of these leaves. Salvina has a rapid growth rate, doubling their biomass in just a few days under optimal conditions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Water Hyacinth<\/strong><\/a> – Shiny dark green leaves with stems that extend into bulbs which serve as air chambers.  This plant produces an orchid-like purple flower. The long, bushy roots are excellent for the spawning of fish.   It is important to know that Water hyacinth is a highly invasive species in areas with mild winters and the plants are banned in several states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
