When designing your oasis with these pools, consider the water depth if you want to use it for aquatic plants. You may want a simple shallow reflecting pool. Aquatic plants and animals or a fountain need deeper water. Ground pools for water fountains are generally 8″ to 18″ deep. The depth for water gardens depend on the plants; bog and shallow-water plants are happy in less than 6″ of moist soil whereas others prefer to be deeper than 6″ under the water’s surface.
The ground must be level and firmly packed to avoid settling with time. Please contact your local contractor for installation help. Ensure that your new pool project meets your local construction codes.

The Cast-Stone Easy Pond consists of a one piece lightweight Poly-Basin with 6 concrete coping caps which can be ordered in any of our signature finishes. Just place the Poly-Basin on a hard surface, and install the coping caps over the edge of the basin. This will work with most fountains for a superb display.
All you need is a crushed gravel and sand base — a concrete base is not needed. If installing on a solid base, such as pavers or concrete, you will need to place a 1″ sand layer over the concrete to ease the installation and leveling.
This can be used with just about any fountain shown with a pond. It’ll support bog and shallow-water aquatic plants. Contact us to discuss your configuration.

The charm of an Ancient trough lies in its rustic design, aged patina, and rich history, elevating it to a functional art piece that enhances any landscape with its unique character and enduring beauty. Constructed from robust materials such as granite, sandstone, and limestone, these troughs are built to last, capable of enduring diverse weather conditions. They can be transformed into raised beds for a variety of plants, flowers, herbs, or vegetables by filling them with soil. Additionally, their original purpose of holding water makes them perfect for creating simple garden ponds, cascading water features, or artistic water sculptures. Troughs can also serve as habitats for pond fish and koi, as well as a sanctuary for aquatic life like frogs and dragonflies. A smaller trough can function as a bird bath, offering a natural water source for garden birds. Alternatively, leaving a trough in its original state can provide a striking decorative element, showcasing its historical and artistic significance.
Installing the Ancient Trough is a straightforward process that anyone can manage. To ensure optimal performance, it’s important to position it on level ground and choose a location that suits your needs, whether that be in a sunny spot or a shaded area of your yard or garden. This simple setup will enhance your outdoor space effortlessly.

This pond is made for water features such as spray rings or water fountain statues, or to be simply used as a reflection pool. If you are considering using it as a water garden, then consider the depth of the pool.
If you are planning a fountain display in the “pond”, then do not grow water lilies near the “moving” water or disturbed water that is caused by the spray. Water lilies prefer calm, placid water which is why waterfalls should be installed away from your aquatics.
The minimum depth to sustain water lilies depends on the design. Check out the section “Tub Garden Plants and Supplies” for aquatic plants suited for this.

Disappearing fountains are the trend these days. Place your water feature atop this buried pond and the water flows from the fountain into the ground where the pump resides to recirculate the water back to the top. This is suitable for any overflowing water feature where the water falls into the underground pond interior. The walls are 1.5-2" thick so compensate for that when designing your disappearing fountain.
