Description

Colonel Lindberg Water Lily Overview

Add the striking ‘Colonel Lindberg’ water lily to your water garden this year and enjoy one of the most impressive hardy water lilies available. This classic variety stands out for its exceptional flower size, rich color, and reliable performance. Gardeners value it as a dramatic focal point for medium to large ponds.

Large Dark Blue Blossoms

The ‘Colonel Lindberg’ water lily produces very large blossoms in a deep, dark blue shade. Wide petals form a full, layered flower that opens generously during daylight hours. The bold color creates strong contrast against the water’s surface and surrounding greenery.

Each bloom rises high above the pond, making the flowers easy to see from a distance. This elevated presentation enhances visibility and adds vertical interest to the water garden. The flowers also release a pleasant, sweet fragrance, which adds another layer of enjoyment.

Attractive Foliage and Pond Benefits

The foliage of the ‘Colonel Lindberg’ water lily adds beauty beyond the blooms. The plant develops attractive green leaves with subtle mottling. These pads spread across the water’s surface and frame the flowers naturally.

The lily pads also serve an important role in the pond ecosystem. They provide shade for koi and goldfish. They help regulate water temperature during warm weather. By limiting excess sunlight, the foliage can also help reduce algae growth.

Strong Growth and Easy Maintenance

As a hardy water lily, ‘Colonel Lindberg’ adapts well to a wide range of climates. It establishes quickly and returns reliably each growing season. This variety performs best in full sun, where it produces abundant flowers and healthy foliage.

Routine care remains simple. Proper planting depth and regular fertilization encourage consistent blooms. Once established, this water lily requires minimal maintenance.

A Stunning Pond Centerpiece

Whether planted as a standalone specimen or paired with other aquatic plants, the ‘Colonel Lindberg’ water lily brings elegance, fragrance, and bold color to any water garden. Its large blue flowers, elevated blooms, and mottled foliage make it a timeless choice for pond enthusiasts seeking beauty and reliability.

The table below shows the estimated shipping and pick-up weeks for destinations to USA states. These dates can change depending on weather and how strong the plants are at that time.

For example, a wet spring will have many clouds leading to less sunshine. Thus, the plants may need a bit longer to grow strong enough for transplanting and transit. With the planet heating up, a warm spring may help the plants grow strong enough to ship before the dates in this table.
