‘American’ Hardy Lotus

Item # 10-4052

The American Lotus displays flowers that vary in size from 4 to 10 inches in diameter, all in a beautiful pale sulphur yellow color. Not only are these flowers visually pleasing, but they are also low-maintenance and durable. Native Americans used to eat the plant’s root, which resembles sweet potatoes. All parts of the American Lotus, including the roots, leaves, and seeds, are edible. Native people have been enjoying the starchy rhizomes as a tasty treat for a long time. Moreover, the young leaves can be cooked and enjoyed as a substitute for spinach, and the immature seeds can be eaten raw.

Spring Shipping Schedule: Preorder Season Expected Ship Dates

This is the expected shipping weeks for preorder season that is about December through April. Plants cannot be shipped until they are strong enough for transit and the weather from Ohio to you is warm enough so that the lifeforms can survive overnight stops. If the spring weather is sunny and warm in northern Ohio, then some plants may ship earlier. If the spring weather has a lot of storms, cloudy weather and is cool, then some plants need a tad more time to get strong enough for transit.
