Botanical Name

Nymphaea 'Judge Hitchcock'.
It was named in honor of the President of the Board of Trustees at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.

Hybridized By

1941, George Pring of the Missouri Botanical Gardens, introduced this water lily.

History

It took Mr. Pring 5 years of attempting to hybridize it from 10 water lilies that were red, light blue, dark blue, and yellow. Included in the parentage was N. burtii.
