Using a Pondmaster UV clarifier in a water garden or pond primarily addresses the issue of green, murky water caused by single-celled algae blooms. When pond water flows through the UV chamber, the ultraviolet radiation disrupts the cell walls and alters the DNA of these algae, leading to their clumping together. This flocculation allows mechanical filters to easily capture and remove the larger particles, effectively clearing up the “pea soup” appearance of the water.

In addition to improving water clarity, UV lights contribute to the health of fish by acting as both clarifiers and sterilizers. They neutralize harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites, thereby reducing the pathogen load in the water.
