Premium-Grade Carbon For Filters

Item # 60-4100

Using Premium Grade Filter Carbon fir Filters in your water garden filter significantly enhances water purification. This high-quality carbon is exceptionally porous, with each granule boasting a vast surface area that facilitates superior absorption. Activated carbon serves as a powerful adsorbent, effectively removing pollutants from both gases and liquids, including harmful ammonia. It operates by attracting ammonia molecules to its surface through a combination of physical and chemical interactions. Elevated ammonia levels in water gardens and aquariums can lead to unhealthy fish and excessive algae growth, while also jeopardizing beneficial bacteria that regulate ammonia levels. Investing in premium filter carbon is essential for maintaining a healthy aquatic environment.

Description

Premium Grade carbon for filters functions as a chemical sponge within filters, capturing dissolved impurities, unpleasant odors, and chemical compounds through adsorption, a process in which molecules adhere to the external and internal surfaces of the carbon’s porous structure.

What Carbon Does in Water and Aquarium Filters

Carbon removes chlorine and various chemicals by eliminating chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and cleaning residues to ensure water maintains a fresh taste and smell. It clarifies discolored water by extracting yellow discoloration and organic tannins originating from driftwood or decomposing matter, resulting in transparent water. Carbon also eliminates medications by helping to remove residual medication from the tank following fish treatment.

Replacing carbon monthly is essential because carbon becomes exhausted once its microscopic pores are completely saturated. You should change the carbon every three to four weeks, as failure to do so will render it ineffective. During fish medication, carbon must be removed before administering medicine to your fish. Leaving carbon in place will cause it to immediately absorb the medication, preventing it from treating your fish effectively.
