Description
Spike rush bog plant (Eleocharis spp.) is a versatile, grass-like sedge that thrives in bog gardens, pond edges, and other wet environments. These resilient perennials flourish in full sunlight and can tolerate shallow, standing water up to six inches deep, often creating dense green clumps that reach heights up to one foot tall. Spike rush is particularly valuable for their ability to control erosion and provide essential habitats for wildlife.
This plant is particularly well-suited for water gardens, shorelines, and wetlands, offering shelter for aquatic creatures. Its slender, dark green, leafless stems, adorned with small brown seed heads, give it a unique appearance reminiscent of fiberoptic grass. Spike rush bog plant spreads through rhizomes, forming mats that effectively bind soil and resist erosion. Additionally, its rapid growth and thick root mass contribute to improved plant diversity in wetland and riparian ecosystems, making it an excellent choice for applications in erosion control, constructed wetlands, and wetland restoration projects.

The table below shows the estimated shipping and pick-up weeks for destinations to USA states. These dates can change depending on weather and how strong the plants are at that time.
For example, a wet spring will have many clouds leading to less sunshine. Thus, the plants may need a bit longer to grow strong enough for transplanting and transit. With the planet heating up, a warm spring may help the plants grow strong enough to ship before the dates in this table.
