Tropical Shallow Water and Bog Plants can quickly grow, produce more flowers, and outperform the hardy varieties with the right growing conditions. Bring them indoors in the winter season to enjoy.
The aquatic ‘Sprial Palm’ is a Brazilian oddity with greenish white flowers that are produced in umbels. The attractive leaves spiral around the base of the plant. This is a plant enjoyed by Tricker customers for over 80 years.
This ‘Chinese Water Chestnut’ is a very attractive plant with cylindrical stems. The tubers are used in oriental cooking, hence its name. Their attractive appearance and neat growth add much to the beauty of the water garden.

The Tropical Pickerel Rush came from British Guiana and is related to the North American species.
The heart shaped foliage is dark , waxy green and is taller than the native variety. The flowers resemble our native Pickerel Rush except that there are two shades of color in the petals-light and dark violet blue. Several florets open as the previous ones close, thus giving a long flowering time to the spikes.
Note: With the abundance of flowers and growth, this plant requires much nourishment and must be planted in plenty of rich soil or fertilized often during the season.

The ‘Papyrus’, a famous Egyptian paper plant, has tall triangular stalks that terminate at the top with a tuft of long thread-like leaves to give the plant a novel appearance.
Shallow water and rich soil are best for this plant that can grow well in slightly moist ground.
It is thought that this species of papyrus was at one time abhorred by the crocodile which led to the construction of the cradle of the infant Moses.
It will serve well as a tall background plant for pools and ponds.
