Description

This year, add some ‘Dwarf Catkin’ Cattails to the margins of your pond or lake display. The flowers, called a catkin, form a dense dark brown, cigar-shape at the end of spikes.

Benefits	Provides fish and other aquatic animals a nice habitat. Birds may nest on the foliage. Roots are consumed by muskrats. Excellent water filtration.
Appearance	Flowers: Shorter catkins that turn brown with age. Leaves: tall and narrow.
Size	3'-4' tall depending on growing environment.
Preferred Growing Conditions	6+ hours/day of direct sunlight. Moist soil with 6" water. Overwinter well in cool water and tolerate freezing temperatures. USDA Zone: 3-11.
