Description
Fire Opal Water Lily Overview
The Fire Opal water lily dazzles with a warm, glowing mix of yellow and orange-pink tones. Its many stalactite-shaped peach petals create a layered, radiant appearance that adds color and elegance to any water garden or pond.
Eye-Catching Height and Display
The blooms typically rise 4–5 inches above the water, making them visible from afar. The elevated flowers float above the pads, creating a striking focal point that draws the eye across the pond.
Profuse and Long-Season Bloomer
Fire Opal is a profuse bloomer, opening early each morning and closing in the evening. It is one of the first water lilies to bloom in the year and continues to produce flowers until the fall. This extended blooming period ensures continuous color throughout the season.
Growth Habit and Care
This hardy water lily thrives in full sunlight and spreads evenly across the water’s surface. Its green pads provide contrast to the warm-hued flowers while offering shade to the pond below. The pads also create shelter for fish and help maintain balanced water conditions.
Perfect Pond Placement
Fire Opal performs beautifully in tubs, small ponds, or larger water features. Its glowing petals make it a standout centerpiece, while its extended bloom season keeps ponds vibrant from spring through fall. Pair it with cooler-colored water lilies for an eye-catching contrast.

| History | This 'Fire Opal' water lily resembles M. Marliac's 1908 Odalisque also known as 'Opalisque' that was hybridized by Charles Masters during his work with Tricker's in the 1930s. The staff referred to it as Fire Opal because of the wonderful flower description of pinks and orange and relative identification with 'Opalisque', and thus its descriptive name. |
The table below shows the estimated shipping and pick-up weeks for destinations to USA states. These dates can change depending on weather and how strong the plants are at that time.
For example, a wet spring will have many clouds leading to less sunshine. Thus, the plants may need a bit longer to grow strong enough for transplanting and transit. With the planet heating up, a warm spring may help the plants grow strong enough to ship before the dates in this table.
