This ‘Pickerel Rush’ is one of the finest blue-flowered hardy aquatic plants and is native to the U.S.A. It’s a strong-growing plant that can grow 1′ – 2′ tall.

The pads are smooth and shiny olive-green. This is extremely hardy in Northern climates, winters well in Ohio with ice and snow in the winter months!

Description

The ‘Pickerel Rush’ is a beautiful blue-flowered aquatic plant that originates in the United States. It can reach a height of 1′ – 2′ and has smooth, glossy olive-green leaves. This plant is incredibly resilient and can withstand harsh winter conditions, including ice and snow in Ohio.

Benefits	The bold upright foliage is a wonderful backdrop along the margins of your pond. Provides a spawning ground for some fish. Dragonfly larvae may morph on the leaves. Young leaves can be used in salads. Seeds may be eaten like nuts or added to flour recipies.
Appearance	Flowers: Blue. Leaves: Shiny long thin jade-green leaves.
Size	Height: 24"-30" tall depending on growing conditions. Spread: 18"-24".
Preferred Growing Conditions	6+ hrs/day direct sunlight. They do best in moist soil with 6" water. Cut back the old growth to the ground. Will overwinter if roots do not freeze. USDA Zone: 4-11.
