Description

The Water Forget-Me-Not (*Myosotis scorpioides/palustris) is a hardy aquatic perennial known for its tiny, sweet, sky-blue flowers with yellow centers, thriving in moist soil or shallow water in ponds and streams, often forming carpets. Valued as a charming pond plant, it grows 6-12 inches tall in full sun to shade (avoiding intense heat), spreads via rhizomes and seeds, and is a symbol of love and remembrance, blooming from spring to frost.

The plant features small, five-petaled blue flowers adorned with a yellow center, complemented by glossy green leaves and hairy stems, arranged in coiled clusters known as scorpioid cymes. It thrives in moist environments such as stream banks, pond edges, and bog gardens, and can tolerate water depths of up to four inches. This species prefers full sun to partial shade but should be shielded from the harsh afternoon sun in warmer regions. Consistent moisture is essential, requiring either wet soil or shallow water, ideally in organically rich substrates. It is hardy across USDA Zones 4 to 9.

For optimal growth, this plant can be placed in containers for aquatic settings, directly in boggy soil, or alongside stream banks. Monthly fertilization with a specialized pond plant fertilizer is recommended to support its development. Regular maintenance involves pinching off fading blooms to promote further flowering and manage its spread.

The table below shows the estimated shipping and pick-up weeks for destinations to USA states. These dates can change depending on weather and how strong the plants are at that time.

For example, a wet spring will have many clouds leading to less sunshine. Thus, the plants may need a bit longer to grow strong enough for transplanting and transit. With the planet heating up, a warm spring may help the plants grow strong enough to ship before the dates in this table.
