Description

Jack Wood Water Lily Overview

The ‘Jack Wood’ water lily is a vibrant and unique aquatic plant that adds striking color to any pond or water garden. Its unusual raspberry-colored petals surround ruby-red stamens, creating a delightful and eye-catching contrast. Combined with its distinct olive-green lily pads, this variety forms a charming display that enhances the beauty of both small pools and larger water features.

Gardeners who want a visually stunning and low-maintenance water lily will appreciate Jack Wood’s reliable performance and consistent flowering.

Raspberry-Colored Flowers and Ruby Stamens

Jack Wood produces abundant raspberry-red blooms that float gracefully on the pond surface. Each flower showcases ruby-colored stamens at its center, adding depth and elegance to the petals. The contrast between the bright flowers and the olive-green lily pads creates a natural and harmonious focal point.

Moreover, the vivid coloration complements other water lily varieties, making it easy to design multi-colored pond displays.

Healthy Lily Pads and Pond Benefits

This water lily develops broad olive-green lily pads that provide natural shade for the pond. The pads help reduce algae growth by limiting sunlight penetration and create a cooler, healthier environment for fish. They also offer shelter for koi, goldfish, and other pond inhabitants, contributing to a balanced and thriving aquatic ecosystem.

Growing Requirements and Care

The Jack Wood lily thrives in full sun, requiring at least six hours of direct sunlight each day for optimum flowering. Plant it in calm water at a depth of 12 to 24 inches to encourage healthy growth.

As a hardy variety, it can overwinter in most climates when positioned below the freeze line. With proper care, Jack Wood will return year after year with consistent, vibrant blooms.

Ideal Uses in Water Gardens

Jack Wood is perfect as a focal water lily or paired with other colorful varieties to create a visually dynamic pond display. Its raspberry flowers, ruby stamens, and olive-green lily pads make it a standout addition to ponds, tub gardens, and decorative water features.

Whether enjoyed from a patio, dock, or garden path, this lily brings lasting charm, vibrant color, and elegance to any aquatic landscape.

The table below shows the estimated shipping and pick-up weeks for destinations to USA states. These dates can change depending on weather and how strong the plants are at that time.

For example, a wet spring will have many clouds leading to less sunshine. Thus, the plants may need a bit longer to grow strong enough for transplanting and transit. With the planet heating up, a warm spring may help the plants grow strong enough to ship before the dates in this table.
