The Mellon Sword is an incredibly adaptable plant, thriving both as a terrestrial species in boggy environments and as a submerged aquarium or oxygenating plant. Its textured leaves bring vibrant color and depth to any setting, whether it’s grown above or below water. Additionally, this plant is remarkably easy to cultivate, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced gardeners alike. The fast growing ‘Mellon Sword’ is one of the most beautiful species of the genus. It can be grown in a bright or slightly shady area. The white flowers bloom above the water and can reach 2′ -3′ tall when grown in the water garden.

Description
This ‘Mellon Sword’ can tolerate slightly acidic to neutral water. Herbivorous and large fish generally do not like it.
This plant will need nutrient-rich substrate and iron-rich fertilizer. If the leaves become pale and translucent, iron deficiency may be responsible.
It does well under medium to high lights. For each gallon: 2-4 watts full spectrum of 5000-7000K should suffice.
