Fancy American Fantails are fun to watch as their tails float with the water currents. Their tail fins, also called caudal fins, are V-shaped and a double-tail fin. The lobes of the tail spread out like a fan and thus the name, fantail. Some are beautifully marked with gold and white, others gold and black.

The Calico Shubunkins are also known as Autumn Brocade Fish because their glorious colors are like the beautiful autumn foliage. Other names include Calico goldfish, Speckled goldfish, Harlequin goldfish, and Coronation fish.
With proper care in freshwater ponds, they can live 10-15 years or longer and reach up to 12-18″ long. Aquariums with limited volume will inhibit them from growing long. They prefer filtered water with a pH of 6-8.
