The huge Euryale ferox, also known as the ‘Gorgon Plant’, has huge pads that can grow 4′-5′ in diameter that are green with blood-red veins.

The contrasting blue-violet flowers will give your display an attractive and unusual sight.

This aquatic plant, native to India, can be grown and enjoyed in backyard water gardens by planting in smaller containers such as the medium crate. It’s a show stopper in any water garden pool!

Description

Impress your friends with this gigantic Euryale ferox aquatic plant with deep violet blossoms. Because of its size, it is best in a pond or calm lake.

Benefits

Entice your friends with green pads that are 2'-5' in diameter with blood-red veins. The leaves will be smaller in smaller ponds.
The pea-sized seeds are edible and a good source of starch. Each fruit will contain 8-15 seeds.

Appearance

Flowers: About 2" dia. Deep violet surrounding white inside.
Leaves: Round 2'-3' dia. Dark-green with purple veins and sharp spines. The sharp thorns are along the top and bottom of the pads. Underneath it's a rich purple color.

Flowers are about 2" diameter.
