The pH measures how acidic or basic the water is. Both fish and plants need a neutral pH. Infections can happen because the microorganisms are not affected by pH or ammonia content. Extreme pH changes will irritate the skin and gills of the fish and negatively affect the biochemistry of plants.
High ammonia levels are one of the biggest and most common killers of fish. Ammonia causes the blood to lose its ability to carry oxygen to vital organs.

This pond Laguna Heater De-Icer maintains a vent hole in the ice for gas exchange. It uses only 315 watts.
It has a LED light that glows when de-icer is functioning.
A 15-Watt heating element melts snow on contact.
The unit has a thermostatically controlled safety feature that will automatically turn off the heating element when the core unit reaches 34 degrees C or 93 degrees F. This unit also has a safety shut off within 90 seconds if the unit is out of the water.

The Laguna Pump PT 305 performs a variety of jobs that need a submersible circulating pump. It can be used indoor or outdoor for statuary fountains and waterfalls as well as hydroponic units and as an aquarium sump. They are hermetically sealed with totally inert epoxy over all electrical connections to ensure safety and long life.
This pump can run continuously underwater in either fresh or salt water.
The maximum water temperature should be under 95°F. Do not let the pump run dry or the warranty will be void.
There are three (3) suction cups on the bottom to secure it to a surface.
Ensure that the area is clear of debris that might get sucked into the inlet and clog the impeller.
Consider getting a pump sock/filter for the best filtration that will extend the lifetime of your pump.
Measure the temperature of the water for fish feeding. It is recommended to stop feeding your fish at water temperatures go below 50° F unless special prepared foods are used. As the temperature rises in your pool the ammonia becomes toxic.
This thermometer will record temperatures 30° to 120° F.
