‘Green Taro’ Aquatic Plant

This ‘Green Taro’ is one of the most beautiful taros with its large green leaves that can grow to 3′ and are almost as wide. They resemble the shape of the ears of an African elephant.

The summer breeze makes this plant a special addition to any water garden pool.

In northern climates it can be brought indoors in winter for your indoor display.

Taro is the most extensively grown species among various plants in the Araceae family, valued for its edible corms, leaves, stems, and petioles. This versatile vegetable serves as a dietary staple across numerous cultures in Africa, Oceania, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia, much like yams. Historically, taro is considered one of the earliest cultivated plants. However, it is important to note that raw taro is toxic and must be cooked before consumption. Taro corms can be prepared in a variety of ways, including steaming, boiling, frying, roasting, or mashing, and they can also be processed into a paste or powder.

The table below shows the estimated shipping and pick-up weeks for destinations to USA states. These dates can change depending on weather and how strong the plants are at that time.

For example, a wet spring will have many clouds leading to less sunshine. Thus, the plants may need a bit longer to grow strong enough for transplanting and transit. With the planet heating up, a warm spring may help the plants grow strong enough to ship before the dates in this table.
