Description

Variegated Canna Plant, commonly known as Bengal Tiger Canna, boasts a height of 3 to 4 feet or more. The Variegated Canna Plant is adorned with vibrant green leaves streaked with yellow. Its striking orange flowers rise prominently on tall stalks, making them visible from a distance.

This canna will enhance your outdoor space, but it can also be brought indoors during the winter months to add a splash of color to your home. To care for it indoors, simply place it in a sunny window while keeping the roots submerged in nutrient-rich water. Alternatively, you can move the entire Variegated Canna Plant pot to a cool, dark area, such as a basement or unheated garage. During this time, maintain dry conditions with minimal watering and avoid fertilizing until spring, when you can check for new growth and even consider dividing the rhizomes for additional plants.

The exact history of Canna Americanallis variegata is not clearly documented, but it is likely a hybrid or cultivar of Canna species, most likely stemming from the popular Canna indica. Its name suggests it is a variegated (striped) variety that originated in the Americas, where Canna plants were domesticated thousands of years ago. However, there are many similar-looking variegated Canna cultivars with different origin stories. For instance, Canna ‘Trinacria Variegata’ was first mentioned in 1927, and Canna ‘Bengal Tiger’ was developed in the 1960s.

The table below shows the estimated shipping and pick-up weeks for destinations to USA states. These dates can change depending on weather and how strong the plants are at that time.

For example, a wet spring will have many clouds leading to less sunshine. Thus, the plants may need a bit longer to grow strong enough for transplanting and transit. With the planet heating up, a warm spring may help the plants grow strong enough to ship before the dates in this table.
